Eliana’s First Easter

Eliana had a great first Easter.  She may be a little spoiled by her Grandma and Grandpa as well as her aunt and uncles.

My baby giggled for the first time on Saturday.  Her uncle must have been pretty funny.  He got her to giggle and it was so cute.  We can’t wait to hear that little giggle everyday!

Asleep At Last

I finally got Eliana to sleep longer than 20 minutes!

She likes to sleep on her belly…not her back.

Diaper Cream & Lotion

I found this great recipe for a diaper cream from Passionate Homemaking for Miss Eliana.  I noticed her little bum getting red and immediately turned to this.  It didn’t even take a full day for the redness to go away.  A week later the same thing happened…worked like a charm again.  So, I thought I’d share this with you because it is natural and inexpensive to make.

First, gather your supplies: coconut oil, shea butter , arrowroot powder or talc-free cornstarch (to thicken) , a container to store it in and a hand mixer to blend together.

         

{I purchased my coconut oil and shea butter at Mountain Rose Herbs.}

Next, place 1/4 cu. shea butter, 1/8 cup coconut oil  and 3-4 Tbls. arrowroot powder in a bowl.  Blend until cream resembles a whipped icing.  (You may need to soften the shea butter before blending…I didn’t today because it is warm in my house, so it was soft enough.  When it is cooler inside, I soften the shea butter in a pan on the stove.)  Place in container and store. 

This recipe is so simple and quick to make.  We use it as a hand lotion too!  It is a little greasy because it is made with coconut oil, but it absorbs into skin very quickly.
